The YSR Congress Party is now convinced that the Congress and the main opposition Telugu Desam party are now desperately trying to hit at the root of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s business interests, particularly his media ventures.
With no escape from the combined onslaught of Congress and TDP, Jagan is said to be seriously planning to have a controlling stake in some other media organisations so that his voice could reach out to larger sections of the people.
Going by the way the CBI and Enforcement Directorate are proceeding, it may not be surprising that Jagan’s media outlets—Sakshi daily and Sakshi TV could face extremely difficult situation in the months ahead.
The ED’s decision to attach the properties of Jagathi Publications has come as a warning signal for Jagan and his close associates. They are now planning to acquire stakes in some of the existing media channels so that their version could get proper coverage.
This has become essential as the general elections are now hardly a year away and the prospects of Jagan being released on bail anytime soon appear bleak.
According to sources, negotiations are on with some of the news channels in this regard. Jagan is keen on ensuring a fair coverage for the activities of his party, particularly in the face of relentless media campaign by his adversaries using some of leading media outlets.
