The inevitable has happened. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday evening sacked health minister D L Ravindra Reddy from the cabinet for questioning the former’s authority and speaking against the cabinet decisions.
The sacking of DL took place soon after the return of the chief minister from New Delhi.
Apparently, Kiran had taken the approval of the high command to sack the health minister who has virtually become a thorn in the flesh of the chief minister ever since he was stripped of medical education portfolio last year.
DL has been openly questioning the decisions taken by the chief minister and making statements belittling the latter in public. In fact, he openly dared Kiran to sack him. And now, Kiran could take a decision to sack DL after taking formal approval from the high command.
Interestingly, the chief minister spared another minister C Ramachandraiah, who has also been attacking the former whenever there was an occasion.
Sources said the high command has given him a warning and let him off. May be, the high command thought sacking of Ramachandraiah would displease union minister K Chiranjeevi who had saved the Kiran government. Secondly, it will send a wrong signal to the party cadres if both the ministers from Kadapa are sacked at a time.
